Hi, I’m Tara.
I tend to dabble…
I have graduated with a BFA in Illustration at Watkins College of Art in Nashville, Tennessee. I am currently freelancing based in Cedar Grove, Tennessee. I consider myself to be quite the dabbler, being an experimental artist working in several mediums including traditional, digital, and textile.
I work with projects ranging from equine portraiture, commercial illustration, business logos, children’s books, hand-sewn banners & much more.

Q&A
How do you stay creative?
I stay creative by altering my mediums & the types of projects I work on - even taking time to learn new techniques. Changing things up keeps me intrigued in what I am doing.
Aside from graphic design & illustrating, what other things do you enjoy doing?
Horseback riding! I enjoy days that I can saddle up any of my horses - Willow, Bandit, Precious or Poco. I also enjoy traveling to different places to go trail riding, basically exploring on horseback. I’ve been around horses most of my life, & those experiences definitely influence my work.
Did you always wanted to be an illustrator/designer?
Actually, no. I was going to study veterinary medicine, focusing in large animal fields, but I then decided to pursue art instead - it felt to be the most appropriate passion for me to follow. Then after some time, illustration seemed to be the right fit for me. I really enjoy the various avenues that working in illustration can provide. Don’t get me wrong, I still study, record, & take part in animal care when given the chance. I will always have that passion as well.
What would you consider that is unique about your work?
I do not consider myself to have a set style in my work - although others may see one, I sure don’t. So I consider my hand to be versatile & capable to take on and adapt to different types of work/styles. Also, when it comes to animal illustrations, specifically equine-related, I consider myself to be fully able to interpret them anatomically correct. I also have an admiration for anything vintage, traditional inking & letterpress especially.
